About IB ACIO Exams

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) takes this graduation-level examination to select eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer () Grade-I & II/ Executive, JIO-I& II/ Executive, and other posts in the Intelligence Bureau.

IB ACIO Executive & JIO Executive is considered a premium job opportunity in the Intelligence Bureau. It is General Central Service, Group ‘C’ (Non-gazetted, non-Ministerial) post.

IB ACIO Exam Eligibility

Candidate should be an Indian citizen
Candidates should have completed their graduation with any stream from a recognized university.
Candidates should have basic knowledge about computers.
The minimum age of the candidates must be 18 years whereas the maximum age can’t exceed 27 years. Age relaxation facilities are available for the reserved category candidates.

Relaxation on upper limit is given to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories-

A relaxation of 5 years is given to the candidates belonging to SC (scheduled caste) and ST (scheduled tribes) category.
A relaxation of 3 years is given to the candidates belonging to OBC (Other Backward Class).

IB ACIO Exam Pattern

The examination is conducted in three different stages.

The first stage is a written test which is a total of 100 marks.
It is a MCQ based paper. The paper is divided into four sections: General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Ability and English Language.
Time allotted for the first stage is 60 minutes.

The second stage is the essay writing and comprehension test. It is a descriptive paper.

The paper is divided into two sections: essay writing and comprehension and précis writing.
Essay consists of 30 marks while comprehension and précis writing consists of 20 marks making a total of 50.
Time allotted to the candidates in Stage 2 is 60 minutes.

The third stage is the personal interview. It is a total of 100 marks. This stage judges the personality of the candidate based on the parameters like intelligence, awareness and knowledge.
