CGL Eligibility

Candidates who aspire to write the SSC CGL 2021 Exam must understand the eligibility criteria properly. There are 4 criteria for the exam – 3 are for everyone, 1 is only for certain posts.

The eligibility criteria for the SSC CGL Exam is as follows:

  1. Citizenship– Must be a citizen of India, Nepal, Bhutan
  2. SSC CGL Age Limit- Must be between the age group of 18 years and 32 years
  3. Qualification- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University
  4. Physical Fitness– Only for candidates for certain posts like Inspector, Sub- Inspector, etc.

There is also certain SSC CGL Age limit relaxation for reserved candidates.

CGL Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission conducts the CGL Exam in 4 different stages called Tiers. The last Tier Exam is only for certain posts and for candidates who have qualified certain papers.

CGL Syllabus

The SSC CGL syllabus covers various topics related to the 10th and 12th grade. The syllabus for the CGL Exam varies with respect to the Tiers.

The SSC CGL exam syllabus 2022 is as follows:

Tier I:- Topics related to General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language & comprehension.

Tier II:- Topics related to Quantitative Aptitude, English Language & Comprehension, Statistics, General Studies (Finance & Economics)

Tier III:- This exam is a descriptive exam to evaluate a candidate’s Language skills in Hindi/English. This is only for candidates appearing for Statistical Investigator (Grade II) & Compiler.

Tier IV:-This test comprises Data Entry Speed Test & Computer Proficiency Test. This exam is for candidates appearing for specific posts under the Government of India.

CGL Schedule

The official website of SSC releases the CGL exam notification every year. The notification for SSC CGL 2021 released on December 23rd, 2021 to conduct the examination in 2022.

There has been a postponement of few exams as released on the SSC official website (https://ssc.nic.in/). Candidates should start their preparation very early this year as the Exam dates might vary.

With the approval of the National Recruitment Agency by the Union Cabinet, a Combined Eligibility Test (CET) shall be conducted for candidates appearing for SSC, RRB and IBPS exams. The NRA’s CET shall be applicable for all Group B and Group C, Non-Techincal posts.

Q.1 How to crack SSC CGL Exam?

ANS: The SSC CGL Exam can be cracked using the strategy and study material. The applicant needs to go through the complete exam schedule and exam pattern before the examination. It is advised to make an appropriate study timetable and keep the focus on the significant parts of the syllabus to crack the examination.

Q.2 What is SSC CGL qualification?

ANS: The basic required qualification for SSC CGL is graduation in any discipline or stream. However, there are some posts that demand certain subjects in graduation. There are also some desired qualifications for certain posts. These qualifications are not necessary but preferred by the respective Departments/ Organizations/ Ministries.

Q.6 Are candidates in the final year of graduation eligible for the SSC CGL exam?

ANS: No, the candidates are not eligible for the SSC CGL exam if they have not cleared the final year examination. For every one of the posts offered through the SSC CGL examination, it is compulsory to have a graduation degree. Their final year results must have been published before the closing date of CGL online application.

Q.7 Will there be any extra age relaxation for the female applicants in the SSC CGL Examination?

ANS: No, there is no relaxation for female applicants, however, the age relaxation will be given just on the basis of the category of applicants. The minimum age relaxation is 3 years (OBC) while the maximum is 15 years (PwD SC/ST). The candidates valid supporting documents to claim the reservation benefits.

Q.14 What are the cut-off marks for SSC CGL?

ANS: The cutoff score for the selection of SSC CGL exam differs. An expected cut-off score is 140 – 150 is required for the general candidates In contrast, an OBC candidate needs 135 -145 marks. While an expected cutoff mark for the SC/ST candidate is between 105 to 125.

Q.15 Is GATE required for SSC?

ANS: No, the GATE exam is not required for the SSC jobs. Before applying for the SSC jobs, the candidate must have valid matriculation or 12th certificate.
