  About CSIR Exam

The National Testing Agency leads CSIR UGC NET on the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) mandates. In order to determine whether Indian citizens are qualified for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and Lectureships (LS)/Assistant Professor Positions in Indian universities and colleges, the Joint CSIR UGC NET test is being administered. For training in research techniques under the expert supervision of professors and scientists working in university departments, national laboratories, and institutions across a range of scientific disciplines, CSIR and UGC offer Research Fellowships.

The exam is also known as CSIR NET. It’s a National Level exam conducted by the NTA. CSIR – UGC Net is done in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode only. For JRF and LS/AP CSIR, CSIR NET online applications are made available twice a year via CSIR Press Notification on all Indian CSIR UGC NET websites. Under the expert direction of faculty or researchers working in university departments, national laboratories, and institutions across a variety of scientific fields, UGC offers Research Fellowships to train techniques for research. Only legitimate Indian citizens are permitted to take the exam. NTA CSIR NET Fellowship is a workable remedy in India.   CSIR Exam Syllabus

The NET syllabus has been made public by the CSIR on their official website. Candidates who plan to take the exam can download the PDF for the course materials for each of the five subjects and use them offline. The CSIR NET exam consists of three parts, A, B, and C. The Part A syllabus is the same for everyone, while the Part B and C syllabuses are entirely dependent on the candidates’ chosen subjects. Candidates can choose the subject when completing their online application.

The CSIR NET Syllabus is a collection of topics from various subjects for which the exam is given. All applicants must be familiar with the exam topics in order to improve their chances of selection. Part-A is based on General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis, and Research Aptitude. Part-B is based on the concerned subject and Part- C is based on the scientific concepts or their applications.

  CSIR Exam Pattern

Not only is filling out the application form sufficient, but the candidate needs to prepare bright enough, hence only after the candidate can beat the competitor. Therefore, not only to make your hunt easy but also to give you a complete overview. Below is the exam pattern, however, as per last year and for reference purposes only.

  • Mode of Language – CSIR-UGC NET exam gives the candidate options of choosing the language when filling out the application form. Therefore, the candidate can choose Hindi or English language as the mode of writing the paper.
  • Mode of Examination – CSIR-UGC NET 2022 execution is a Computer-based test (CBT).
  • Overall Sections – The paper consists of three sections in the examination.
  • Question Type – Candidates have to answer the questions in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) way.
  • Duration of Examination – The candidate will be given 3 hours. i.e., 180 minutes to solve the three sections of the examination paper.

Exam Pattern for Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences:

Candidates for the CSIR NET Chemical Sciences paper must attempt a total of 75 MCQs from Parts A, B, and C. Each question in Parts A and B is worth two marks, while Part C questions are worth four. For incorrect answers, there is a 25% deduction from the final grade individually in reach subjects.

Exam Pattern for Mathematical Sciences:

Candidates must attempt 60 of the 120 MCQs in the CSIR NET Mathematical Sciences paper. The exam must be finished in three hours by the candidates. Part A questions are worth two points each, Part B questions are worth three points each, and Part C questions are worth four and a half points each. Each incorrect response receives a 25% deduction from the final score in Parts A and B, but there is no deduction in Part C.

Exam Pattern for Physical Sciences:

Candidates must attempt 55 out of the 75 MCQs in the CSIR NET Physical Sciences paper. Each question in Part A is worth two marks, while the weighted average for questions in Parts B and C is 3.5 and five marks, respectively. In Parts A, B, and C, there is a negative marking of 25% for each incorrect response.


  CSIR Exam Eligibility Criteria 2022

Candidates who wish to register for the CSIR-UGC NET 2022 examination must check the eligibility criteria. Those who fill out the form without passing the eligibility criteria will not download the admit card as they will fail the eligibility criteria. It’s essential to match the eligibility criteria if you wish to sit for the examination. The basic criteria are based on JRF age limit and educational qualifications.

The council establishes eligibility based on exam requirements and to ensure that all applicants have an equal chance.

CSIR NET Subject-wise Qualification

Life Science

Pursued academic qualification in Life Science only.

Chemical Sciences

Have an M.Sc./BS/B-Tech or similar degree in Chemistry with the required percentage.

Earth Sciences

Within the required qualifying criteria, pursued an M.Sc./BS-MS/BS-4 Years/B-Pharma or any similar degree in the subject of Earth Science.

Mathematical Sciences

To meet the qualifying requirements, must have an M.Sc./BS-MS/BS-4 Years//B-Tech or an equivalent degree in mathematics.

Physical Sciences

Have a valid M.Sc. Physics or BS-MS in Physics degree, or any equivalent degree within the required percentage.


  CSIR Exam Schedule

On 11th July 2022, the NTA made the CSIR NET 2022 announcement. The CSIR NET notification for 2022 has been made available on the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) official website, csirnet.nta.nic.in. The notification includes all of the crucial exam information, including the thorough application process, eligibility requirements, admit card, exam dates, exam schedule, syllabus, and others.

Three to four days before the test, the CSIR NET admit card for 2022 will be made available. From 11th July to 17th August 2022, candidates who wanted to be eligible for JRF and Lectureship/ Assistant Professor positions in Indian universities and colleges could apply for the CSIR NET.

  CSIR Exam Result

The conducting body has not yet disclosed the CSIR NET result date. But if past years are any indication, the CSIR NET result will be revealed a month after the test has been completed. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will first release the CSIR NET result for 2022, followed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Examinees can access the CSIR NET results by logging in with their application number and birthdate. The distribution of the CSIR NET e-certificate 2022 will be based on the final results announced by the CSIR. Here are some points that candidates need to keep in mind:

  • The CSIR-UG NET result releases in the form of a merit list which carries the candidate’s roll number and the name of the qualifying candidates.

  • Applicants are qualified to be named for the Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship jobs upon qualifying for the examination.

How to Check CSIR NET Result 2022?

  CSIR Salary

In particular, the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), and the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), IMTECH, NBRI, ICAR, IGCAR itself can be entered after passing the NTA CSIR NET. Candidates can apply to different scientist grades like Scientist B, Scientist C, and Scientist D, career in managerial positions, conduct research for esteemed organisations, or develop and test products in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals, and consumer research.

Salary after CSIR NET JRF

The candidate, after qualifying for the examination, will get a fellowship of Rs. 31000/-, which includes HRA per month (CSIR institutes), given to the selected candidates for two years.

A fellowship of Rs.35000/- also includes HRA per month (CSIR institutes) will be given to the selected candidates for three years.

CSIR NET Assistant Professor Salary

Candidates can expect to pay in the range of Rs. 30, 000/- to 40, 000/- per month in the starting phase based on the college/institutes.
